How it works

From first review to evidenced discharge

Wound IQ joins a clinical pathway, derived from published guidance, to a simple service for patients and clinics. The clinical pathway makes every clinical judgement; the service schedules, records and charges around it.

Two layers, one record

The clinical pathway is written from published international guidance on the diabetic foot and signed off by a clinician before use. It holds the definitions — what counts as healing, deteriorating or infected — the thresholds that raise a prompt, and the evidence status of every treatment. It is versioned, so a change in guidance or a change of threshold is a new version, not new software.

The service pathway is the six steps a patient moves through: register, review, book, attend, follow up, discharge. It calls on the clinical pathway at each clinical step and never redefines it.

Both write to one continuous record for the patient, held in the international standard for health records, so measurements from different visits and devices can be compared and trended.

The six steps in detail

1

Register

Online registration with an identity check. Consent is given by purpose — care, service operation, anonymised evidence — and can be withdrawn at any time.

2

Review

The wound is measured and classified against the pathway's definitions. A clinician reviews online, sees the relevant guidance and the evidence status of each option, and recommends a plan. A concerning wound raises a prompt.

3

Book

The patient accepts the plan and books a clinic slot. Any treatment supplies are ordered against the booking.

4

Attend

Treatment at the clinic. The wound is measured again by the same method, and any supplies used are recorded against the patient for traceability.

5

Follow up

Scheduled follow-ups, each with a measurement. The healing trend is shown to patient and clinician. If healing stalls beyond the pathway's threshold, the clinician is prompted to review.

6

Discharge

The outcome is recorded against the discharge criteria and the episode is closed. With consent, an anonymised outcome joins the evidence set that improves the next version of the pathway.

Measurement you can trust

Same method, every time

The device and method are recorded with every value, and methods are never mixed in one patient's trend.

Any approved device

Measurement comes from any device that meets our standard, from a calibrated ruler and photograph to a wound-imaging scanner.

Flags stay flags

Any automated indication — infection, ischaemia, undermining — is shown as preliminary until a clinician confirms it.
